    We envision a Walton County where all residents have a fair chance at a healthy future—free from nicotine addiction. Our mission is to mobilize the community and advance local policies that will help end nicotine addiction, protect children, and improve public health for generations to come.

    Karen Weber

    Tobacco Policy Liasion

    Karen Weber joins CivCom as the new Tobacco Policy Manager for Walton County, Florida. She brings a diverse background spanning secondary education, project management, and health and wellness advocacy. Karen’s experience managing complex projects, paired with her strong communication and instructional skills, positions her well to lead effective tobacco policy initiatives. She also draws on her work as a certified Ayurveda and yoga instructor to bring a holistic, community-centered perspective to public health policy. Karen is excited to build relationships and support partners to acheive a Tobacco Free Walton!

  • INITIATIVES

    Tobacco Free Walton supports the local initiatives intended to:

    • Stop illegal tobacco and vape product sales and predatory marketing practices.
    • Ensure K-12 school policies related to tobacco are comprehensive and effective.
    • Encourage multi-unit housing properties to implement policies that protect residents from secondhand smoke.
    • Assist local city and county partners establish tobacco-free and smoke-free park and recreation policies to keep our parks and beaches healthy, clean and safe for all Floridians and visitors.
    • Partner with health systems and social service organizations to improve access to evidence-based cessation services.

  • YOUTH ADVOCACY

    Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) mobilizes and equips youth to protect their generation from the tobacco and vaping industries. Walton County SWAT members build leadership skills and plan activities to help raise awareness and support for policies that benefit the community.
